Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
Purpose of the Role
To work collaboratively with staff in the CEPMLP, the Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science, and Careers Service to enhance the employability of students and graduates. To design and deliver career development workshops (including skills profiling, CVs, interviews and assessment centres) and offer individual advice (careers guidance & coaching). In addition, to source suitable internships with local and national organisations for students and develop and maintain an employer database.
Main Responsibilities
1. To have a positive impact on the employability of CEPMLP and the Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science students.
2. To be responsible for the design and delivery of employability workshops for current students to be delivered in the CEPMLP and the Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science and occasionally within the Careers Service.
3. To provide one to one careers advice and guidance for students seeking help with career planning.
4. To offer support to students on key employability issues including CV/application advice and reviews, presentation skills and job interviews.
5. To assist students to become more proactive in their job search by offering information and contacts to develop a job search plan.
6. To strengthen relationships with UK and International employers through existing contacts within the CEPMLP and the Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science, and Careers Service, alumni links and contacts within sponsoring companies.
7. To liaise with staff within the CEPMLP and the Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science, and the Careers Service to help source internships and graduate vacancies.
This will be achieved through setting up and continuing to develop an employer database, especially in the Energy and Water sectors. The post holder will be expected to travel to meet representatives from the sectors.
8. To coordinate the development of on-line resources within the Careers Service, CEPMLP and Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science to help students from the Centres with career planning.
9. To monitor customer service and quality through user feedback, such as post workshop events and online student questionnaires.
10. To contribute, as appropriate, to the Dundee Graduate Skills Award.
