Sample & Data Manager/Analyst
This is a permanent vacancy based in Lancaster. We are looking for a scientist, with experience in inorganic analysis and an aptitude for managing environmental samples and conducting laboratory work, to work in a busy laboratory to support the environmental research community. Your main responsibilities will include managing all aspects of handling samples that we receive into the inorganic laboratory and producing analytical reports.
You will hold at least a second class degree in chemistry, environmental chemistry or environmental sciences and/or equivalent knowledge and skills gained from relevant laboratory work in inorganic analysis. A good understanding of the chemical analysis of environmental materials is essential. You will be flexible in conducting a range of tasks both independently and within a team and will be able to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative with the ability to identify and solve problems. You must be numerate and be competent using a computer with some experience of using databases. You will be a good team player and an effective communicator who is well organised and keen to develop your existing skills.
The salary for this post is £19,540.00 progressing to £23,150.00 per annum. In addition NERC offer a public sector pension scheme, 30 days’ annual leave and 10½ days’ public and privilege holiday per annum.
