The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be £39,668 - £46,822 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Development Planning Unit (DPU) is an international centre specialising in academic teaching, practical training, research and consultancy in the field of urban and regional development and planning.

The successful applicant will contribute to the DPU's mission by making contributions to teaching and research in the fields of urban development planning, policy and practice in developing countries of the global South. 

The lecturer is expected to teach on the MSc Building and Urban Design in Development course; assist in defining and promoting areas of research related to the subject area; and participate in the future development of the master's programme. This post is initially funded for a period of five years.

Key Requirements
Candidates must be educated to PhD level in a directly relevant discipline and have a good understanding of the current debates and literature in community-led development, disaster risk management, disaster recovery and/or climate change adaptation in the urban global South. Applicants must also have research and/or practical experience in the urban and development field in the context of the developing world.  Previous experience of lecturing and assessing work at postgraduate level is essential.
