Lecturers in Applied Linguistics/English Language Teaching

This post is intended to enhance further our provision in English Language Teaching and to contribute to the continued development of research excellence in Modern Languages at Southampton (ranked second in the 2008 national Research Assessment Exercise). You will be pursuing a programme of research leading to publication at national and international level. You should also be able to contribute to the inter-disciplinary research culture of Modern Languages and the Faculty of Humanities. You will teach research-led postgraduate and undergraduate modules, and contribute to modules which are team-taught with other Modern Languages colleagues. You will also contribute to the efficient management and administration of Modern Languages.

Applications are invited from candidates who have an established research profile in any area of Applied Linguistics/English Language Teaching, but particularly from candidates with research/teaching interests. You will focus on at least one of the following: language teaching pedagogy, communicative language teaching, language teacher education, curriculum design, or language for specific purposes. This post will be available from 1 September 2010.

    I have finished MA in applied linguistics in Turkey at Bilkent university (the top 200 universities in the world) in the graduate school of education/ department of teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). I’m teaching at a state university in Kurdistan Region/ Iraq…I’m seeking the opportunity to study PhD..and I need a university that provides funded scholarship for PhD in applied linguistics.
