Job Reference Number: UOS003993
Contract Type: Fixed-term for 3 years
Salary: Grade 7 £28,401 to £29,249 per annum
Closing Date: 20 February 2012
Summary:
Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position in the laboratories of Dr. Spencer Collis and Dr. Patrick Eyers within the Institute for Cancer Studies, Department of Oncology, University of Sheffield Medical School. We have recently carried out a human genome-wide RNAi screen to identify novel regulators of genome maintenance, and we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to characterise an unstudied protein kinase that regulates the DNA damage response. Using a combination of cell biology, molecular biology and biochemical analysis, you will determine the role of this kinase in the cellular response to DNA damage and uncover how it helps maintain genomic stability. You will hold a PhD (or have equivalent experience) in a relevant subject area and should have experience in cell biology, molecular biology, protein purification and biochemistry. Previous experience working with protein kinases, protein phosphorylation and/or signal transduction would be particularly advantageous.
This fixed term position is funded by a Yorkshire Cancer Research grant and is tenable from 1 April 2012 until 31 March 2015.
