Job description
The Department of European & Economic Law at the University of Groningen is seeking to recruit a postdoc researcher on a two year fixed-term contract to undertake research in the area of European Law. While applications from scholars are very welcome in any area of the European law field, the Department would be especially interested in applications from scholars taking an interdisciplinary approach working in one or more of the areas of particular interest to the Department.

Conditions of employment
The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience between € 3,195 and € 4,374 (scale 11) gross per month for a full-time position. The position is defined according to the University Function Classification (UFO) job profile 'researcher 3'. The appointment will be for a fixed period of two years.
Preferred starting date: negotiable, but no later than 1 September 2011.

Department of European & Economic Law
The Department of European & Economic Law at Groningen is a dynamic, research-led group which engages in research in both the classic and more recent areas of European Law. The multi-disciplinary research of the Faculty of Law is organized along three themes: shared legal orders, law and the regulatory state, and procedural justice. The research of the department contributes to all of these and covers subjects as the Internal Market; Judicial Protection; Citizenship; Relations between the Union and the Overseas Countries and Territories of the Member States; Enlargement of the EU; Energy Law, Competition Law, and European Environmental Law. At present the Department consists of five professors, one senior lecturer, two university lecturers, two postdocs, and a number of research assistants, some financed by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and some externally financed, who are writing doctorates.
