The work serves a broader concern of developingmeans for pathogen detection and is supported by the EPSRC through ImpactQM and DSTL.

We are seeking a candidate who will contribute strongly to a highly multi-disciplinary team comprising physicists, electrical (antenna) engineers and biologists. The work would ideally suit an individual with proven ability in THz/IR spectrometry. The appointed candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to work creatively in a highly inter-disciplinary environment. The work will be based primarily in the THz Laboratory of the Antenna & Electromagnetics Group under the supervision of Dr. Rob Donnan.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree (or have submitted their doctoral thesis) in physics, electrical/electronic engineering(or closely related disciplines), and should have experience or knowledge in all of the following:

  • Skill in metrology relevant to THz/IR spectrometry
  • Laser science
  • quasi-optics

Plus experience or knowledge in one of:

  • Molecular modelling
  • Molecular dynamics
