Salary in the range £48,613 to £55,833 (Reader) or £57,411 to £71,853 (Professor) p.a. incl.

The University of East London is a dynamic and rapidly expanding university in the heart of Europe's largest regeneration area and adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympics. In the 2008 RAE UEL is in the top 10 of modern (post-1992) universities in the UK for research.

The School of Law is seeking to appoint an international scholar with an outstanding research record to lead our research in the area of international and comparative human rights and to become Director of the Centre on Human Rights in Conflict (CHRC: http://www.uel.ac.uk/chrc/index.htm).

You will have a background in international law and international relations/politics, with a particular expertise in one or more of the following areas: human rights and conflict resolution, transnational justice, human rights in armed conflict, human rights and globalisation, human rights and colonialism/postcolonialism, the jurisprudence of human rights, human rights in the context of area studies. An excellent research record, the ability to generate research and knowledge exchange income and experience in relating to policy-makers and wider audiences are essential.
