The Environmental Health Group (EHG) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is a thriving multidisciplinary group with research activities in hygiene, sanitation, water and behaviour change. The Group is seeking a Research Assistant to assist in the design and implementation of field studies to assess the effectiveness of water quality interventions to reduce the levels of microbiological and chemical contaminants in drinking water, and to improve health among low-income populations. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s degree in environmental engineering. The post also requires prior experience in designing and supervising field studies to assess water quality interventions, and experience with point-of-use water treatment for both microbiological and chemical pathogens. The post also requires prior experience in carrying out quantitative analysis of data, and an ability to write technical reports, guidelines, operating procedures and academic papers. In order to ensure continuity of research and water quality interventions in the broader context of EHG work, the position is conditioned upon registration as a research degree student at LSHTM.
Up to 50% of the post holder’s time will be outside of the United Kingdom.
The post is for 12 months as a part-time (0.25 FTE) appointment. Starting salary £30,792 per annum pro rata.
