Full Time : The salary range will be Grade 7 - £31,905 - £38,594 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Grade 8 - £39,668 - £40,796 per annum, depending on skills and experience, inclusive of London Allowance.

We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced epidemiologist to join a physical activity research group of epidemiologists and statisticians examining the determinants of accelerometer-based measures of physical activity in a large population-based sample of seven year old children participating in the Millennium Cohort Study (MCS). The MCS is a longitudinal survey of the social, economic and health-related circumstances of more than 18,000 children born in the UK and followed since the first year of life.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking and interpreting statistical / epidemiological analyses of these unique data as a member of the research group currently working on the pre-specified hypotheses for this project. This is a unique opportunity for a post-doctoral epidemiologist to gain further experience in life course analyses of complex longitudinal data in an area of major public health importance for children.

This post is funded  initially until 31 May 2013.

Candidates must have a PhD in epidemiology, statistics or equivalent experience and publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals. The post holder must have and experience of analysis of large and complex epidemiological datasets, and advanced skills in using statistical software, such as SAS, Stata or MLwiN.
