The University of Glamorgan has been successful in Securing ERDF funding to establish Centre of Excellence in Mobile Applications and Services (CEMAS) (£5million). This will be the first of its type in the United Kingdom, Europe and probably worldwide. CEMAS will focus on research and development of innovative mobile, web and telecom services and applications. The Centre of Excellence will also have the responsibility of engaging and supporting SMEs in the Convergence area of Wales (West Wales and the Valleys) through mobile application projects in a wide range of application areas. The Centre will build on the already existing high quality infrastructure in the Integrated Communications Research Centre of the University.
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow post. The post holder will have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in a mobile computing or wireless communications engineering or relevant field and knowledge of the mobile development tools and/or wireless technologies. The Post holder will engage in and lead both long term projects and short-term projects with SMEs which may have diverse natures.
The successful candidate will have a track record in research proven by high quality publications. He/she will have good programming skills in at least two programming languages but preferably in more, especially on mobile platforms. Industrial experience can be an advantage although not a requirement.
There are no direct teaching responsibilities attached to the post, but the post holder will have to supervise MSc projects and support teaching at the MSc level. He/she will be asked to contribute to the research culture of the Faculty.
