Research Fellow in Psychosocial Studies

Based within the Department of Psychosocial Studies, this is an opportunity for applicants with research interests in intimacy and personal life to be part of an ESRC funded research project which is investigating “living apart together” (non-cohabiting) relationships. You will work with Professor Sasha Roseneil on the psychosocial strand of the research, and you will be part of the research team, which includes Professor Simon Duncan, and a researcher (to be appointed) based at the University of Bradford, and Alison Park of the National Centre for Social Research.

Candidate Requirements
You should have a PhD in Psychosocial Studies, Sociology, Gender Studies or a related field (or be close to completion, or have the equivalent in research and publications). You should have experience of qualitative research, an interest in biographical narrative methods and/ or psychoanalytically informed social research, and knowledge of sociological and psychosocial approaches to the study of intimacy and personal life. Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work as part of a team are essential.

Further Information
The post is tenable from 1 January 2011. This role is full time and fixed term until 31 October 2012. The salary quoted above is inclusive of London allowance. Birkbeck also provides a generous final salary pension scheme, 31 days paid leave, flexible working arrangements and other great benefits.
