The University
At Bath Spa University, we put our students at the very centre of all we do, with a focus on innovative teaching, entrepreneurial learning and state of the art facilities. The School of Music and Performing Arts, comprising over 850 students and 40 staff, is a vibrant and progressive community of 'thinking practitioners' creating new work, reaching new audiences and forging new connections. We're home to Bath Spa Live - a framework for supporting our students as proto-practitioners as they find their way into the creative industries.

The Department
Our Performing Arts department comprises over 400 students and offers an exciting range of programmes in dance, acting, drama, theatre production and arts management. You'll be leading the BA Performing Arts programme, a vibrant community of 140 students specialising in acting and undertaking many dozens of performances every year in the University's own theatre and beyond.

The Role
Providing academic leadership to the BA Performing Arts programme and its team of 12 staff, you'll strengthen the programme's profile - regionally, nationally and internationally - and build on its reputation for pedagogical innovation. You'll work productively with colleagues in our Bath Spa Live Arts Centre team in support of the university's 'employability' agenda, encouraging your students to undertake creative practice both on campus and in the 'real world'. You'll also work effectively and collaboratively to ensure that the life and work of the Performing Arts course is more than the sum of its parts.

Your Experience
You'll have a good degree in Performing Arts/Drama or a closely related discipline, plus substantial experience of HE teaching. Your professional experience as a theatre, film or TV practitioner ideally underpins a track record in practice-based research. You'll combine advanced knowledge in directing/acting with a demonstrable interest in pedagogical innovation and quality enhancement, including e-learning and online assessment. With a clear commitment to a student-centred teaching and learning environment, your organisational and communication skills are also second to none.
