iSolutions, a team of approximately 280 permanent personnel, is the sole provider of ICT for the University of Southampton. This is a large and prestigious University and is highly dependent upon a vast array of advanced technologies. The Operations Team, comprising approximately 55 staff, is considered the final level of escalation for technical issues and works to continually improve the technology and the services delivered. The operational column has a variety of experienced infrastructure engineers, network specialists, DBAs and application support professionals (developers).
The technology is already hosted in a large multilayer datacentre but the whole IT infrastructure is soon to migrate to our new datacentre, the build of which will begin in early 2012. This is an exciting and technically challenging project that will certainly involve all members of the Operations Team.
Availability and resilience are our core business. We are constantly seeking better ways to continuously improve our infrastructure and the user experience.
