Starting salary £37,012 pro rata a year, in a range up to £44,166 pro rata a year, with potential progression to £49,689 pro rata a year.

The Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (CRCTU) at the University of Birmingham is currently seeking a part-time Trials Pharmacist.

The CRCTU is one of the largest National Cancer Research Institute accredited Trials Units in the UK. The CRCTU has an extensive portfolio of clinical trials in adults and children covering a wide range of cancer disease sites and has one of the most active early drug development teams in the country.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional pharmacy advice and support to the Cancer Research Clinical Trials Unit (CRCTU), and specifically the Children's Cancer Trials Team (CCTT), including trial management staff and investigators.  They will ensure that clinical trials conducted by CRCTU are compliant with the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004 and subsequent amendments and all other relevant legislation and guidance with regard to pharmaceutical product supply and use in clinical trials. In addition, they will also assist in the preparation and review of pharmacy specific documentation and contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures for medicinal product management.

Applicants will possess a MRPharmS (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience as an NHS Pharmacist.  They will have a working knowledge of Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004, the EU Clinical Trials Directive 2001/20/EC, associated clinical trials medicinal product guidance and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain professional standards and practice guidance.  Good working knowledge of UK prescription and sourcing of chemotherapy drugs is also essential.  They will be highly professional, methodical, with excellent attention to detail and will possess excellent communication skills.  Previous experience of preparing and submitting CTA applications would be an advantage.
